Having no neighbours, in a radius of about 3 km and situated in the historical environment that centuries ago saw it born and framed by a multi-hundred-year-old oak forest, it was conceived as a suitable refuge for those who sought rest in a peaceful atmosphere.
Originally a family residence, the hotel underwent a caring reconstruction carried out in the 90’s.
Preserving the traditional designation of Hospedaria do Convento or Convent Hotel, this family run accommodation is open to visitors in the Riba-Coa region, thus continuing somehow the tradition that begun in the 12th century with the welcoming of pilgrims traveling on the route to Santiago de Compostela, in Spain.
Its decoration was done according to the taste of the owners who lived there, who integrated their pieces of art and collections, without dispensing all the comforts that modern hotel units provide.
As a result, the Convent hotel offers, in addition to the comfort of a hotel (central heating, swimming pool, & tennis court), the peculiarity of having a library that can be used by guests, serving buffet breakfasts, having a glassed climatized loggia for meetings, that opens to the surrounding landscape highlighting the hill where the historical village of Castelo Rodrigo stands.
The hotel building has 7 bedrooms in the main building, 3 bedrooms on the edge of the pool and a 2-bedroom apartment. All rooms are different, retaining the traditional and intimate characteristics. It offers free wireless services to the guests in the communal spaces and outdoor swimming pool for the summer season.
