This small becoming lodge was the former post office of the small arctic village of Mårdsel, not far from the Arctic circle and, one and a half hours from Luleå Airport (LLA). 

Råne River wraps the village nicely. From here you will have access to enormous areas of wilderness in which you can experience snowmobile trips crossing the arctic circle. Miles of frozen wetlands and extremely snow safe. It’s also a great place just to relax and take in the arctic quiet atmosphere. The village and wilderness around iare great to walk around on snowshoes, try Nordic skiing or kicksleds to explore.

TheOutpost Lodge offers small scale, personal stays and genuine Sami experiences for discerning clients looking for an authentic stay where they can learn, live, laugh and relax in a variety of arctic and cultural landscapes. Nature here is boundless and includes a brackish water archipelago, vast tracks of forest, mighty rivers and mountain views.

The basement has a nice sauna and relax area, plus a very structured changing room with direct entrance into it from the outdoors. The nice floor heating is perfect when you change back from winter gear after your adventures outdoors.

Meet Jonas

Jonas has been a safari guide and entrepreneur in East Africa since the early 90th. Has started numerous camps in Kenya, founded Peaks&Safaris and Hot Air Safaris in Masai Mara. One of his adventures was crossing Greenland on skiis in 2002. He has been working with Fredrik in Swedish Lapland since 2003 on various film, photo and expedition projects.

 

Has now fully joined forces with Fredrik and moved home base to Gunnarsbyn Råne River Valley and is on a full partnership with Aurora Safari Camp, The Outpoost and Lapland Ballooning. He still holds operations in Africa.
